Animal Welfare Leagueto hold fund-raiser
WARREN -- The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County is preparing for its annual Walk for Animals, one of its major fund-raisers.
The event will be May 5 in Packard Park. Registration that day is from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the shelter house.

Donation checks should be made out to the Animal Welfare League.
The league runs solely on donations and fund-raisers.
Town hall's history
FOWLER -- The township historical society will discuss the history of Fowler Town Hall at its next meeting, 7 p.m. April 4 in the town hall.
The society continues to collect items connected to local families for its museum. For more information, call Judy McDonald, the museum chairwoman, at (330) 638-6646.
Children's author offersworkshops, book signing
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Katherine Ayres, a children's author, will give writing workshops, a book signing and a public lecture at Slippery Rock University on April 8 and 9. She has written "Family Tree, North by Night: A Story of the Underground Railroad," "Voices at Whisper Bend" and "Under Copp's Hill."
Ayres also coordinates the program for a master's in children's and adolescent writing at Chatham College in Pittsburgh.
Her free lecture and book signing will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 8 at the McKay Education Building. Workshops with SRU students will be April 9.
