RUNNING Roadrunners Club to induct 3 in HOF



Jim Fox, Art Joachim and Anthony Parish are set for induction into the Youngstown Roadrunners Club Hall of Fame.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jim Fox, the Rev. Art Joachim and Anthony Parish will be inducted into the Youngstown Roadrunners Club Hall of Fame during the organization's Hall of Fame Banquet April 20 at Bobby D's Italian Eatery.
WKBN broadcaster Rich Morgan will be the guest speaker.
The public is invited for the event that begins at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $12.50. Reservations must be made by calling Denise Losiewicz at (330) 793-3468.
Athletic director: Fox, 58, of Poland, a former teacher and coach who has been Boardman High athletic director since 1997, has an extensive running background.
A member of the YRRC for 27 years, Fox has been a runner since junior high school. He ran cross country and track for Penn Hills High (1960-62) and Mount Union College (1962-66), where he earned All-American honors.
Then he embarked on a competitive road-racing career (1967-97), before becoming a recreational runner. Fox has a master's degree from the University of Toledo. He is planning to retire as Boardman's AD after this school year.
Longtime pastor: Rev. Joachim, 76, of Canfield, who was a pastor for almost 40 years (1951-1990), has been a runner since 1982.
A member of the YRRC since 1983 and a sponsor of the YRRC Distance Classic, Joachim has run in almost 1,900 races over varying distances from 2 miles to a half-marathon (13.1 miles).
He has averaged more than 100 races a year for the past 11 years, and has captured many age-group awards.
Rev. Joachim is graduate of South High, Youngstown College and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, and is a U.S. Navy veteran.
Physical therapist: Parish, 52, of Niles, a physical therapist employed by MVI Home Care Physical Therapy, has been a member of the YRRC for 16 years, and has served as its vice president and treasurer.
A runner for about 15 years, Parish also is the race-course coordinator of the YRRC Distance Classic, and a sponsor of the race.
He is a graduate of Chaney High, Kent State University and Ohio College of Massotherapy.
