2 police officers hurt in crash
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two police officers were slightly injured when a Mahoning County deputy sheriff ran a red light and crashed his cruiser into an unmarked Boardman police car just before 2 p.m. Friday.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Commerce Street when Patrick J. Mondora failed to stop for a red light, city police reports say.
As the 1997 Ford Crown Victoria cruiser Mondora was driving passed through the intersection, it was struck by an unmarked police car driven by Nick C. Levinsky, a Boardman Township police officer.
The unmarked car is a 1996 Chevy Lumina.
Both vehicles were disabled, the report says.
