YOUNGSTOWN Students win honors in poster competition

Sixty-nine schools participated in the contest.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Twenty-one area schoolchildren were honored as winners in the School Bundle Day poster competition, sponsored by Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.
The poster contest was in conjunction with the 41st annual school bundle day donation drive. Pupils from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties participated in the contest, which required contestants to draw their ideas of how Goodwill helps people with disabilities.
Contest winners, parents, school officials and guests attended the breakfast today, which was in the Goodwill cafeteria. All posters were displayed and winners were presented with educational gifts and certificates from Goodwill.
The theme of this year's breakfast centered on Goodwill Industries International's centennial celebration.
Sixty-nine schools participated in the program, which yielded more than 35,000 pounds of clothing and small household items.
Nine area trucking companies, who donated services for delivery and pickup of bundle bags at schools, contributed to the drive's success. They companies were Aim Nationalease, Bumble Bee Moving, Lorans Jones Movers, The Lyden Co., H.H. Pincham, Rhiel Supply, Richards Moving & amp; Storage, J.L. White Movers and Rainbow Rentals.
Other contributors included Skate Zone and Putt-Putt Golf and Games, who provided coupons to each student who returned a filled bundle bag during the donation drive.
