AUSTINTOWN -- Vandals slashed tires on at least five vehicles that were parked overnight in various locations in the township.
According to reports, tires on a 1984 Chevrolet van and a 1988 Ford were apparently damaged with a knife between 3:30 and 4 a.m. while they were parked in a driveway on Cavalcade Drive. The owner believes the vandalism may be related to an ongoing problem with a juvenile.
Tires were damaged on a 1991 Chevrolet Corsica parked in the driveway of a home on New Road. The victim's brother told police he believes he knows who might be involved and requested that detectives contact him.
A Timberidge Drive resident told police the tires on his 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier were slashed overnight. He discovered the damage around 8 a.m. today. An in-dash CD player was removed, and the owner found it on the lawn.
Vandals also slashed the tires on a 1988 Ford parked at a Baymar Drive apartment. The owner of the vehicle told police this is the second time tires on his car have been damaged. He said vandals slashed his tires three or four days ago, but he didn't report it. He discovered damage to his new tires around 7:40 a.m.
