CANFIELD 5 face drug charges
Police found a pipe, rolling papers and beer during some of the traffic stops.
CANFIELD -- Two Poland teens were among the five people arrested on drug charges during traffic stops here last weekend.
One of the Poland residents, a 19-year-old North Main Street man, is charged by police with driving under the influence, underage possession, drug possession, drug paraphernalia, and failure to stay within marked lanes, which is his second moving violation in a year. The other Poland resident, a-17-year-old College Lane boy, was charged by police with violating curfew and committing prohibited acts.
The 19-year-old was driving a car that was pulled over around 12:30 a.m. Sunday for crossing the double yellow line on East Main Street. Police found beer and suspected marijuana in the car. Rolling papers and suspected marijuana also were found in the 19-year-old's waistband.
Akron men arrested: During the weekend, police also arrested two Akron men after finding suspected marijuana as part of a traffic stop. One of the men, 25, of Triplett in Akron was charged by police with possession of drug paraphernalia, while the other man, 27, of Goodview in Akron was charged by police with two counts of drug abuse as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police stopped the car the men were traveling in around 6:15 p.m. Sunday after determining that the car had an illegal window tint. Two suspected marijuana cigarettes and a pipe were found in the car. In addition, the Goodview man had a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and rolling papers.
On Saturday, meanwhile, police arrested a 36-year-old Callahan Drive woman and charged her with speeding, driving under suspension, and drug possession after a traffic stop on Fairground Boulevard. The woman was found driving 41 miles per hour in a 25 mile-per-hour zone around 12:20 p.m.
The woman told police she had marijuana, and a small amount of the drug was found in her purse.
