7 women to be honored
YOUNGSTOWN -- A program, "Women Sustaining the American Spirit" sponsored by the Management Diversity Class at the Williamson College of Business at YSU, will celebrate Women's History Month on Wednesday at the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Stambaugh Stadium from 1:30 to 3 p.m. by honoring seven local women.
Dr. Betty Jo Licata will be the speaker.
Food and beverages will be provided.
New York FOP thankslocal FOP for its gift
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Fraternal Order of Police, Youngstown Lodge 28, received a note of gratitude from The New York State Fraternal Order of Police, Empire State Lodge, for its $1,620 gift to the World Trade Center Police Disaster Relief Fund.
The letter says the relief fund was established to help ease the financial burdens of the families of police officers killed or catastrophically injured during rescue and relief operations after terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11.
Thus far, the letter states, $3.5 million has been distributed to the families of those officers. All funds collected will continue to go toward that effort.
