KEYSTONE CLIPS CD features state rep's song



"Flyin' Tonight," a song written by state Rep. Michael Gruitza of Hermitage, D-7th, and his wife, Joan, has been released as a compact disc single by Platinum Plus Records of Nashville.
The song is recorded by Randy Brown and was written in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States. It's a tribute to the men and women serving in the armed forces. Gruitza has written a number of country tunes over the years.
Special Olympics: Special Olympics Pennsylvania is looking for volunteers for a variety of positions, including scorekeepers and lane escorts, at the annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania Western Bowling Sectional on April 6 in Aliquippa.
Teams from both Mercer and Lawrence counties will compete for the chance to attend the summer games at Pennsylvania State University from June 6-9.
The sectional games will be at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes and AMF Noble Manor Lanes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with more than 300 athletes competing. Anyone interested in volunteering should call Bruce Volstad, associate competition director, at (800) 233-5161.
Student art show: The Valley Arts Guild's 16th annual High School Art Show is now on in the guild gallery at 10 Vine Ave., Sharon. There are 59 pieces of art from nine area schools in this year's show, which runs until March 29.
West Middlesex took the best overall school honors; best of show went to Joel Davis of Reynolds High School for his work titled "Fast Ball." The photography award went to Sheena Leedham of Sharon High School for "Aqueous Serenity"; the computer art award went to David Kerr of Grove City High School.
The gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Heating assistance grant: The deadline for Pennsylvania's Low Income Energy Assistance Program has been extended to March 29, said State Rep. Frank LaGrotta of Ellwood City, D-10th.
A family of four with an income of up to $23,828 can qualify for the heating assistance grant. Crisis grants of up to $300 are available for families with unexpected heating emergencies. Eligibility is based on family size, income and type of heating used. There are also cash grants for low-income families.

Senior dental care: Older people with low incomes can get a break on their dental visits, according to State Rep. Chris Sainato of New Castle, D-9th. The Pennsylvania Senior Dental Care Program includes dentists who agree to provide dental care for 15 percent less than their usual fees.
To qualify, residents must be 65 years old or older and on a fixed income. Recipients cannot receive federal, state or other dental health insurance. Household income cannot exceed $14,000 for a single person or $17,000 for a married couple. All forms of income, including pension and Social Security, are included.
