Pomona Grange to mark 125th year
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- William A. Steel, state grange master, will be the guest speaker when Mercer County Pomona Grange celebrates its 125th anniversary during a tureen dinner at 7 p.m. Friday at Stony Point Grange on Kremis Road.
Members should take a covered dish and their own table service. Meat, beverage and rolls will be furnished.
The dinner will be followed by entertainment.
The grange was organized March 30, 1876, and focuses on providing equal governmental representation for its members and their neighbors, securing economic benefits for its members, developing activities of interest for all ages of the family and enhancing the image of the grange.
In 1965, the youth of the grange held the first grange fair in Shenango Township. Today the fair is held on its own fairgrounds on state Route 58, east of Mercer.
