Man is arrested in theft of sandwich



YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested a 26-year-old man who lives at the Rescue Mission and charged him with stealing a sandwich from Shell True North, 504 E. Midlothian Blvd.
According to police reports, the man left the Shell station just after midnight this morning after paying for a bag of potato chips. The clerk noticed a bulge in the man's coat and saw him remove a submarine sandwich from inside his coat after he left the building.
When police arrived, the man was sitting near the entrance to the store eating an Italian grinder sub sandwich and chips.
After the clerk identified the man, he was arrested and transported to the Mahoning County jail.
The sandwich was wrapped, initialed and turned over to the clerk to hold until the trial.
