GIRARD Co-pilot reaches tentative deal

GIRARD -- The co-pilot of a chartered plane who reportedly caused a disturbance at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport has reached a tentative plea agreement.
Gerald Gola, 28, of Detroit, reached the deal Wednesday with city prosecutor Robert Johnson.
Gola's attorney, Sam Bluedorn, said Gola will either plead guilty to inducing panic or disorderly conduct.
He would not disclose the sentence he worked out with Johnson and Vienna police who charged Gola.
Bluedorn said Gola wants time before entering a plea to determine what effect it will have on his job at Ryan International and on his pilot's license.
Municipal Judge Michael A. Bernard scheduled another hearing for 2 p.m. April 15.
Gola was arrested Feb. 1 by Vienna police, who provide security at the airport, after he mentioned that an ax was stored in the cockpit.
A crash ax is routinely kept in the cockpit in case pilots need to use it if the plane crashes. Police said at the time he became belligerent while going through the security check.
It resulted in 120 people at the airport being delayed for three hours.
Gola was the co-pilot of a charter flight heading to Atlantic City.
