VIENNA Virginia company will hire 8 at first

THE VINDICATOR, YOUNGSTOWN
Local officials hope the company places manufacturing operations here after setting up processing.
VIENNA -- A Virginia company is opening a small warehouse and processing plant here to process and distribute laminating materials.
Drytac will employ eight people now but hopes to hire 25 or more as operations expand, said Walter Good of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Comerce.
The company is leasing a building that was put up four years ago by Davis International to promote development around Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. The Ridge Road building is now part of the AEROPark industrial park that is being developed by the chamber.
Good said Drytac will use the building to distribute and process laminate materials for framing, screenprinting and other markets.
The number of employees could grow beyond 25 if the company brings manufacturing operations to the site, he said. One of the company's long-range goals is to have a manufacturing site in this country, he said.
Other details: The company, which is based in Richmond, Va., has a manufacturing plant in Bristol, England. Rolls of the laminating material will be sent to the local plant, where they will be cut to meet customer orders.
Drytac was looking at a site in Massachsetts for the processing plant when it began investigating the Mahoning Valley, Good said. The Valley came to its attention because in November it acquired InterLam of Tacoma, Wash., which operated a small warehouse in Youngstown.
It selected the Vienna site because the building suited its needs and had nearby highway access, Good said.
The site also is in a Foreign Trade Zone, which allows import duties to be paid when products are shipped instead of received and allows exemptions for inventory taxes.
