The Pittsburgh Pirates have one fewer contender for their starting rotation after shifting Tony McKnight to their bullpen. McKnight has allowed five runs in 42/3 innings this spring. McKnight was a starter with Houston before he was acquired in a July 31 trade. More baseball, Page C4.
Taking no chances
Two French-made, portable land-to-air missiles will be deployed outside South Korean stadiums during World Cup games to prevent possible terrorist attacks. Military jets will patrol the skies over the stadiums during the tournament, air force spokesman 1st Lt. Kim Ki-ho said. The air force will make sure jet noise does not affect matches, he said.
