STRUTHERS SCHOOLS Wind causes damage at construction site

Officials didn't have damage estimates but said the site was covered by insurance.
STRUTHERS -- Extreme winds took down scaffolding, manhandled construction equipment and toppled the naked cinderblock walls of the new high school under construction near the current school.
Superintendent Sandi DiBacco said the new school's west wall and part of the east wall were blown down sometime Saturday afternoon. DiBacco received a call about the damage just before 7 p.m. that day.
"I gotta believe it was a small tornado," she said.
No injuries were reported, and damage estimates were not available.
School and construction officials were scheduled to meet today to discuss cleanup measures and how much the damage will set back schedules.
DiBacco said the site is covered by insurance and that the project was ahead of schedule before the accident.
"The cleanup is going to take a while," she said. "I guess that's Murphy's Law, when things run smoothly, something is bound to happen."
The new building is attached to the current high school field house.
DiBacco said the old building was saved from damage, however several windows were blown open.
