PITTSBURGH -- After trailing 32-23 at halftime, the Grove City girls basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to edge Westinghouse, 49-47, Saturday in the Pennsylvania high school Class AAA playoffs.
Chelsea Smith scored 16 points to propel Grove City (24-5) to a second-round game Wednesday against Punxsutawney at a site to be announced Monday.
Shannon O'Neil scored 12 points for Grove City.
Hyshea Ogbonna led Westinghouse with 18 points. Sidney Thomas scored 13 and Hope Lewis 10.
Stacey Heberling scored 29 points as Punxsutawney (21-5) defeated Lewiston, 71-56.
Class A: Lauren Friedrich scored 17 points to lead defending PIAA champion Kennedy Catholic to a 61-22 victory over Keystone.
The Eagles had little trouble, jumping out to a 29-7 halftime lead.
Brittany Mays scored 12 for Keystone.
Kennedy Catholic will play Bishop Guilfoyle (24-6) Wednesday at a site to be announced Monday.
Bishop Guilfoyle outscored Mount Alvernia 10-6 in overtime to gain a 60-56 victory. Sonja Hinish scored 14 for Bishop Guilfoyle, while Jordana Gracenin has 23 for Mount Alvernia.
