Youngstown Council handled these items Wednesday:
Heard Rodney Lewis Sr., a city police officer, complain that the dog warden's office isn't picking up stray dogs in his 5th Ward neighborhood.
Expressed its support for WL Ross & amp; Co. in its effort to acquire and operate LTV Steel.
Appropriated $243,360 in federal money for demolition of the old Washington school.
Appropriated $50,000 in federal money for a 2002 project by the Streetscape volunteer organization focusing on beautifying major gateways to the city.
Approved and authorized the board of control to sign a three-year contract with United Steelworkers of America Local 2163-6, which represents about 60 sewer department workers. Workers will get raises of 30 cents per hour and 4 percent per year.
Increased the pay for part-time public nurses to $16.68 per hour. Previously, the pay ranged from $14.78 per hour to $15.14 per hour.
Authorized the board of control to seek bids and sign contracts for engineering, design and construction for the rehabilitation of Sheridan Road, from Midlothian Boulevard to Meadowbrook Avenue, a state Issue II project.
