WEATHERSFIELD -- A 39-year-old man has been charged after he attempted to get a ride to where he was staying early today. James D. Glendenning of Motel 6 in Austintown is charged in Niles Municipal Court with receiving stolen property, illegal possession of a prescription and possession of a criminal tool. Township police say Glendenning knocked on the door of a house on state Route 46 about 3 a.m., wanting a ride to the motel. The homeowner called police and Glendenning was spotted in a stolen van at Route 46 and Payne Street. He had in his possession a screwdriver and a prescription belonging to the van's owner, police said.

Bound over in drugs
NEWTON FALLS -- A Philadelphia man charged with drug possession has been bound over to the Trumbull County grand jury. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrested David Henry, 36, after stopping his rental pickup truck for speeding on the Ohio Turnpike Feb. 24. He is accused of transporting more than $300,000 worth of marijuana.
North Jackson accident
NORTH JACKSON -- A 39-year-old North Jackson man was killed in a six-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Interstate 80 near the Ohio Turnpike entrance. Christopher Root hit the side of a tractor-trailer driven by Dewey Caldwell of Columbiana at 10:50 a.m., crossed the median, striking a vehicle driven by Gina Rekstis of Hubbard, then another tractor-trailer driven by Craig Rehrer of Brockway, Pa. Two other vehicles involved were driven by Barbara Lehnard and Jacquelyn Tarr, both of Boardman. Rekstis, Lehnard and Tarr were treated at a local hospital.
Harassment case
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that a Boardman woman harassed the wife of a Woodledge Drive man, who she thinks cast a spell on her. The 38-year-old Applecrest Court woman has called the wife and said the man is involved in Satanism and black magic and is sending her telepathic messages. The wife said her husband is a psychic who gave the Boardman woman two readings in the past. The Boardman woman has been evaluated for psychiatric problems in the past, police said.
Assault at hospital
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 32-year-old Austintown woman reported to police that 12 members of the security and nursing staffs at Forum Health Northside Medical Center pushed her against a wall, knocked her from a wheelchair and dragged her on a floor about 3 p.m. Sunday while she was there for treatment. She made the report Monday afternoon from St. Elizabeth Health Center. She had arm and lower back injuries, according to police reports. Northside spokeswoman Debora Bishop said hospital officials are aware of the complaint.
Traffic charges
SHARON, Pa. -- Robert R. Stewart, 52, of Gaylord Avenue, Masury, is free pending a court appearance on charges of careless driving and driving under the influence after his car rammed the back of a cruiser at East State Street and Chestnut Avenue at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Murder trial delayed
MERCER, Pa. -- The murder trial of Shane R. Sloan, 29, of Pine Township, accused of killing his mother, has been delayed. He was scheduled to go to trial this month in Mercer County Common Pleas Court for the Feb. 5 death of Susan L. Fleeger, 48, with whom he lived, but the postponement came Tuesday at the request of the defense and won't be heard until at least April.
He is charged with criminal homicide and risking a catastrophe.
