Penn State Shenango teachers receive awards

SHARON, Pa. -- Shirley Dillaman, a biology instructor, and Dr. Jane Viti, part-time instructor in biology, have been named recipients of the 2001-02 teacher of the year awards at Penn State Shenango.
Dillaman was awarded the Leonard R. Riforgiato Memorial Teaching Award given to full-time instructors. Viti was presented with the Margaret Cunningham Foley Memorial Teaching Award given to part-time instructors.
Dillaman has been a full-time biology instructor since 1984. She earned her undergraduate degree from Slippery Rock State College where she graduated summa cum laude and as valedictorian of her class. She earned a master's degree from Cleveland State University, where she also graduated summa cum laude.
Dr. Viti joined Penn State Shenango in the fall of 2001 to teach human biology and microbiology. She also teaches at Penn State New Kensington.
She holds an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and earned her doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh.
