JUNIOR CIVIC LEAGUE Officers installed, scholarships awarded

Several members were singled out for recognition at the league's annual brunch.
LIBERTY -- "Strength in Unity" was the theme of an annual scholarship brunch held by the Junior Civic League on June 9 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex Centre, 1620 Motor Inn Drive.
Betty Bogan, outgoing president, served as toastmistress for the event, and the guest speak was Sarah Brown-Clark, clerk of Youngstown Municipal Court.
Atty. Cherie Howard conducted the installation ceremony for the following officers who will serve terms during the 2002-2004 season: Phyllis Cross, president; Molly Seals, vice president; Antoinette Smith, treasurer; Cynthia Mason, recording secretary; Estelle Payne, corresponding secretary; Juanell Patton, financial secretary; and Juanita Davis, parliamentarian.
Other business
Pam Murrell, scholarship chairman, presented scholarships to Leslie Hight, Joncquil Hope, Dion Hury, Darla Jones, Sheila Lyons and Sumya McElroy.
During the program Rose Williams recognized members for their volunteer service, and honored Kathleen Adams for the most volunteer hours of service.
Bogan introduced Tanisha Howell, the organization's 2001 Miss Cinderella. New members of the club were also presented.
Updating the members on arrangements for the 2002 Cinderella Ball to be held Nov. 29 at Mr. Anthony's was Elsina Winston, who will join Doris Bullock as chairwomen of the event.
