ON CAMPUS College news and notes

Mount Union
Leann Neiman and Angela Centofanti, both of Boardman High, and Ashley Ault of Mineral Ridge -- will attend Mount Union to play softball. Neiman, a 5-foot-1 outfielder, won four letters and was a member of Boardman's 2001 team that won a state championship. Centofanti, a 5-6 pitcher and infielder, won a letter and had a combined varsity-junior varsity record of 26-2. Ault, a pitcher, won four letters and 47 games for her career at Mineral Ridge. She was an All-NEO first-team choice, and twice made the All-ICL first team.
In volleyball, Ashlee Lemke and Jessica DiCarlo, both of Austintown Fitch, and Amy Falhamer of Hubbard -- will attend Mount Union. Lemke, a 5-6 outside hitter, was the Falcons' Most Valuable Player and The Vindicator Player-of-the Year as a senior. A three-year letterman, Lemke was named to the All-NEO District first team three times, and made the All-State third team. She also was a two-time All-SVC first team selection. DiCarlo, a 5-11 outside hitter, was a two-year letterwinner, first team all-district and second team All-SVC. Falhamer, a 5-6 outside hitter, broke a school, scoring record. She was first-team all-district and an all-state honorable mention as a junior and senior. She made All-SVC first team as a senior.
Asher Falatic (Lakeview), a defensive back and wide receiver, will play football at Mount Union. Falatic (6-1, 192) was a three-year letterman, an All-TAC defensive back and an All-NEO, all-county and honorable mention all-state wide receiver.
In men's soccer, Ryan Petruska (Ursuline), will attend Mount Union. Petruska (6-1, 185), a defender, was an all-district pick and an All-SVC first-team selection last season.
Kristy Croysdale, a Fitch High graduate, will play women's soccer. A 5 foot, 2 inch midfielder on the Falcons' soccer team, Croysdale was awarded first-team honors for the district and Steel Valley Conference and was second team Mahoning County along with being a four-year letter winner.
In basketball, Erin Orr (Fitch) will attend Mount Union. Orr, a 5-8 guard, was a letter-winner at Fitch. Malachi Hall (Mineral Ridge) will also play basketball for the Purple Raiders. A four-year letterwinner, he was the Division IV player of the year, Trumbull County Coaches Association Player of the Year and the Inter-County League's most valuable player.
Mount Vernon Nazarene
Jason Irish (Lakeview), a junior designated hitter and outfielder, helped the baseball team to a 38-11 record for their eighth 30-win season in the past nine years. Irish batted .353 with 29 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He also added nine doubles and two home runs. Irish was named to the All-AMC second team and was an National Christian College Athletic Association East Region honorable mention. Irish also registered a 4-2 record as a pitcher with a 5.44 ERA.
Westminster
Brian Fadden (Mohawk), Shane McCullough (Neshannock) and Quay Rosengarth (Wilmington Area) will play basketball at Westminster. Fadden (6-2, 170) scored 1,586 career points. He averaged 24 points, five rebounds and six assists per game as a senior. He was the Section 2-AA Most Valuable Player as a senior, and a three-time first team all-section pick. Fadden also was named New Castle Union Athlete of the Week, and received the KDKA Extra Effort Award. The son of Sharon and Robert Fadden, Brian is a member of the National Honor Society, and plans to major in mathematics.
McCullough (6-3, 175), a guard-forward who averaged 15.9 points and 8.0 rebounds as a senior, made all-section first team as a senior and honorable mention as a junior. He paced Neshannock to the section title this past season. The son of Carol and Dennis McCullough, Shane is president of his senior class and is planning to major in political science. McCullough also played golf and tennis at Neshannock, leading the Lancers in both sports to four straight section crowns. In golf, he made the all-section first team as a senior. In tennis, is was the No. 1 singles champion of the section.
Rosengarth (6-3, 170, guard-forward) averaged 11.7 points and 5.6 rebounds as a senior tri-captain, adding 44 steals, 23 blocked shots and shooting 79 percent at the foul line. A three-year letterwinner, Rosengarth scored 650 career points. He was named the team's MVP as a senior, and the Most Improved Player as a junior.
North Carolina at Asheville
Steve Burnich, a Fitch High graduate,will play baseball at the university. Burnich, a shortstop, led the Falcons in hitting this season with a .466 average and was first team All-Steel Valley Conference. He also played quarterback for the Falcons.
Burnich was awarded the Wally Ford Sr. Memorial Scholarship.
