Born: July 22, 1902, in Brewton, Ala.
Residence: Lives in McDonald with her grandson and his wife, Alfred and Betty Washington, and their two children.
Children: A daughter, Ruby Thomas Hanley, is deceased.
Grandchildren: Four.
Great-grandchildren: Nine.
Great-great-grandchildren: Eight.
Background: She lived in Pittsburgh then moved to Youngstown in 1917 and attended Youngstown schools, including Madison Street School. When she was 17 she began working. She did day work at various homes and also worked at Fish Dry Cleaners, 20th Century Restaurant, Pick Ohio Hotel and Strouss-Hirschberg Department Store in the silver department and stock room. She retired in 1967 at 65.
Memberships: She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in 1963. She served on the usher board until 1998 and also was involved in the Senior Missionary Society and Sunday school. She enjoys sewing and reading.
Celebration: She is being honored today during a service at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
