YOUNGSTOWN -- Catlin Bestart of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, signed a letter of intent to play women's soccer at Youngstown State.
A standout goalkeeper at Northern Collegiate High, Bartley posted a 0.75 goals-against average and 15 shutouts last season.

Jolly Joe's prevails
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jolly Joe's broke a 1-1 tie as it scored a run in the bottom of the fifth and then topped Roth Brothers 4-1 in the Class AA League best-of-5 championship series Thursday at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Mark Nightingale hit a two-run home run for Jolly Joe's in the fifth inning. He also singled.
Rick Gozur hit a double and single as Jolly Joe's took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Brian Frasco and Jeff Gruber hit doubles for Roth Brothers.
Casi ties for 8th
MARION -- Alexandra Casi of East Palestine carded 78-84--162 over 36 holes to tie for eighth place, in the 16-17 age division of the 26th Ohio Junior Girls Golf Championship at the Marion Country Club.
Kelly Baytos of Warren JFK had 80-85--165 to tie for 13th, while Felicia Ciotola of Canfield fired 86-80--166 to tie for 15th, in a field of 51 golfers.
The winner was Heather Rose of Chillicothe with 75-72--147.
Mills sixth
MENTOR -- Charissa Mills of Warren fired 42-43--85 to place sixth in the girls 16-19 year old division in the North Coast Junior Golf Tour Classic Auto Campus Tournament Thursday at Black Brook Country Club.

COLUMBUS -- Tim Morrow of Boardman shot 72 to take first place in the 13-15 year division in the Junior Golf tournament at Darby Creek golf course.

BOARDMAN -- Mike Villagrana, who will be a senior defensive end and tight end for the Boardman High football team this year, has made a verbal commitment to West Virginia University for the 2003 season.
A two-way starter last season as a junior, Villagrana (6-3, 240) came up with approximately 40 tackles, including about a dozen for losses, and caught some 25 passes.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Express Collegiate team dropped a 10-5 decision to Murrysville.
Schuyler Mann paced the Express (17-12) with three hits. Israel Victor and Nick Walsh each had two hits.
