ROOTSTOWN -- Several Mahoning Valley children are among 51 students from 11 counties attending MEDCAMP through Saturday at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.
Students who will enter the ninth grade this fall who have demonstrated achievement in science and an interest in medicine as a possible career, can interact with physicians and researchers and participate in problem-solving laboratory exercises. Area camp students are:
* Mahoning County: Tara Ivy, Youngstown; Ashley Janis, Austintown Fitch High School; Nick Miladore, Canfield High School; Amber Phelps, Youngstown Chaney High School; Sonya Reyes, Campbell Memorial High School; Norma Starks, Youngstown Chaney; Rebekah Sturgiss, Lowellville High School; Sierra Whitman, Youngstown Chaney; Monique Arocho, Youngstown Wilson High School; Steven M. Ayers, Campbell Memorial High School; Vatassia Nicole Brown, West Branch, Alliance; Courtney Downing, Jackson-Milton High School, North Jackson.
* Columbiana County: Caitlin Lewis, West Branch High School, Homeworth.
* Trumbull County: Chase Brown, home schooled, Cortland.
