Steelers get readyfor home game
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Steelers will play the Tuscarawas City Vikings in semi-pro football action Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the old South High field.
The Steelers are coming off a 34-16 win over the Pittsburgh Power.
Ray Morrow threw three touchdown passes, two to Steve Richardson and another to Chris Lopez. Dewayne Thomas scored on a 9-yard run and Sean Harris scored on an 11-yard run.
Adding two-point conversions were Richardson and Thomas.
Springfieldwins, 6-3
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- John Morgan went the route on a four-hitter as the Springfield Old-Timers defeated the East Palestine Old-Timers 6-3 Sunday.
Howard Merritt had three RBIs with a triple for Springfield (4-7). East Palestine (2-8) was led by Bill Ginger with two hits.

AUSTINTOWN -- Caitlin O'Patchen, an eighth-grade student at Austintown Middle School, made the all-star team at the Keystone Basketball Camp, held at Slippery Rock State University.
Thiel's Gordonoff to Toledo
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- JoAnn Gordon, softball and volleyball coach at Thiel College has resigned her positions to become the softball coach at the University of Toledo.
In three seasons at Thiel, Gordon led the softball team to a 47-53 record and 14-10 in the league. Her two-year volleyball record was 18-40.
Davis receivespreseason honors
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel College sophomore defensive back Kennard Davis, a graduate of Farrell High School, has been selected to the D3Football.com Preseason second team All-American squad.
Street & amp; Smith and Lindy's Football Preview have also named Davis to their preseason All-American teams.
Fitch wrestlersfinish 16th
ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Austintown Fitch High School wrestling team took 16th place in a 48-school field at the Disney Duels, held at Disney World.
Fitch junior Joe Murray won a silver medal after posting a 9-1 record at 130-pounds. He took fourth in the state last winter.
Freshman Nick Bodnar won a copper medal for placing fourth at 112-pounds with a 6-3 slate.
Senior John Chechitelli went 6-3 at 152-pounds to win a copper medal while sophomore Brad Learn won a copper medal with a 6-3 mark at 140-pounds.
Fitch is coached by Brett Powell.

Kile's arterieswere 90% blocked
CHICAGO -- St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile died from a blockage of the arteries supplying the heart, and there was no evidence that drugs contributed to his death, Cook County's coroner said Tuesday.
"This is a natural cause of death," Edmund Donoghue, the county's chief medical examiner, said in a statement.
Toxicology tests did show evidence of marijuana use, although it was probably weeks before and was not a factor in Kile's death, Donoghue said.
Tests were negative on steroids, alcohol, cocaine and ephedrine, a substance commonly found in dietary supplements banned by some sports.
Kile, 33, had a 90 percent blockage in two of three coronary arteries, Donoghue said, confirming his preliminary analysis shortly.
NBA capgoing down
NEW YORK -- The NBA salary cap is going down for the first time in its 18-year history.
The cap, which rose last year by $7 million to $42.5 million, was dropped to $40.271 million for the 2002-03 season primarily because of a $100 million-plus decrease in guaranteed television money.
Selig, Loria are sued
NEW YORK -- Baseball's contraction plan sparked another lawsuit, with former minority partners of the Expos accusing commissioner Bud Selig with mail fraud and wire fraud.
In a 45-page federal complaint filed in Miami under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, the 14 minority owners accused Selig and former Expos owner Jeffrey Loria of conspiring for more than two years to eliminate Montreal.
