Express wins
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Express collegiate baseball team defeated the Southern Ohio Copperheads 3-0 Tuesday for their third straight victory.
Pitcher Nate Bouldin allowed four hits while striking out six to earn the win. Bryce Kartler got the save by pitching a hitless final inning.
Brad Schutz and Brad Whitman had two hits each, while Kartler, David Mandley, Shawn Epidendio and Dustin Bowen had one apiece.
The Express face the Stark County Terriers today at Thurman Munson Stadium in Canton at 6 p.m.
Their next home game is July 17 at Pemberton Field at 6 p.m.
Day is All-Star
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Scott Day of Howland was recently named an All-Star at the Keystone State Invitational Basketball Camp held at Slippery Rock University.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Ralph Shaffer, Dick Davis, Dave Burch, Doug Engelhart and Bill Black teamed up to win the United Way of Lawrence County's 16th annual Golf Open.
Matlak hired
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Mark Matlak has been named the new football coach at Allegheny College.
Matlak, 46, was an assistant at the University of New Hampshire for 18 years.
Susa fires 71
WALTON HILLS -- Eric Susa of Warren shot a 71 (34-37) in the North Coast Junior Golf Tour held Tuesday at Astorhurst Country Club. Susa was second in the boys 16-19 age group.
Saulnier steps down
CANTON -- Malone College football coach Steve Saulnier resigned his position Monday. Saulnier, who had a 10-21 record as Pioneer coach over the past three seasons, has taken an assistant coach/coordinator position at Geneva College.
Titans pick Miller
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College has hired Katie Miller as an assistant coach for women's basketball and softball. Miller was a graduate assistant coach for women's basketball at Tiffin University.

Bengals sign Westbrook
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals signed free agent wide receiver Michael Westbrook to a $4.5 million, three-year contract on Tuesday, and released veteran receiver Darnay Scott.
Westbrook had 277 catches for 4,280 yards and 24 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Washington Redskins. He missed 14 games in 2000 with a torn left knee ligament, but played in every game last season and had 57 catches for 667 yards and four touchdowns.

Augusta chairmanresponds to attack
NEW YORK -- In a defiant statement about the privacy of Augusta National, chairman Hootie Johnson lashed out at a national women's group for urging the club to have female members before next year's Masters.
The National Council of Women's Organizations, which has about 6 million members from 160 groups, sent a letter to Johnson on June 12 after chairwoman Martha Burk read reports about Augusta National not having women among its 300 members.
Johnson said he found the letter to be "offensive and coercive."
ESPN to airBear Bryant movie
PASADENA, Calif. -- First it was basketball coach Bob Knight. Now ESPN is focusing its cameras on football coach Bear Bryant.
The network said Tuesday its second original made-for-TV movie will be about the 35 players who endured Bryant's preseason training camp at Texas A & amp;M in the mid-1950s.
"The Junction Boys: How Ten Days in Hell with Bear Bryant Forged A Championship Team," will air Dec. 14 after the Heisman Trophy presentation.

LOS ANGELES -- Four passengers who died on Flight 93 during the Sept. 11 attacks will be honored with the ESPY's Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Tom Burnett and Jeremy Glick all had sports backgrounds and will be recognized tonight at the ESPY Awards.
