NEW YORK-PENN M.V.'s Wallace strong in 6-1 win

Shane Wallace pitched six innings as the Scrappers pulled away.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- Shane Wallace (2-1) turned in a solid performance as he worked six innings and allowed only one run as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers turned back Jamestown 6-1 in a New York-Penn League game Saturday.
Jonathan Van Every put the Scrappers (11-8) ahead for good when he hit a home run in the fifth inning, giving Mahoning Valley a 2-1 lead.
The Scrappers' bats then came alive as they scored twice in the sixth inning and added two more runs in the seventh.
The Jammers (10-9) took advantage of an error to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Kevin Randell reached base on that error. Hunter Wyant then double and Randell moved to third. Randell then scored on a ground out.
Right back came the Scrappers, who are now alone in second place in the Pickney Division, as they tallied a run, which helped along by Wyant, who committed two errors.
Sixth inning
With one out in the sixth inning, the Scrappers' Bill Peavey singled and advanced to second when Van Every walked. Angel Abreu singled to load the bases.
Brian Treanor came on in relief of Ross Wolf (2-2). Miguel Peguero reached base on an error, scoring Peavey, and Van Every moved to third and Abvreu to second. Ben Francisco flew out and Van Every scored on the sacrifice fly.
Once again the sloppy fielding of the Jammers allowed Pat Osborn, leading off the seventh inning, to reach first on an error. Brian Wright singled, moving Osborn to second. Wallace singled to score Osborn, with Wright moving to third and Wallace to second. Peavy's sacrifice fly scored Wright.
The Jammers finished with four errors.
Kevin Martin came on in the seventh inning and pitched three shutout innings, giving up only two hits.
The Scrappers had an opportunity to put the game out of reach in the fifth inning. After Van Every's solo shot and a fly out, Peguero, Francisco and Baxter hit singles. Osborn and Wright then struck out to squelch the rally.
