Youngstown shooting leaves teen critical

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition today in St. Elizabeth Health Center after having been shot eight times with a handgun from his right shoulder to his right calf, but a doctor told police the injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.
Police were unable to interview Benjamin Reynolds, of Quinn Street, because of his condition, but said it appears he was shot at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Garland Avenue and Valley Street on the city's East Side.
A 31-year-old witness told police he was driving on Garland Avenue when he saw Reynolds in the street, swinging his arms for help. The witness, who does not know Reynolds, said he saw four males standing on a corner and the teen told him they had shot him. As he drove Reynolds to the hospital, the witness was followed by a vehicle that Reynolds said was involved in the shooting.
About 7:45 p.m. officers were called to 1225 Valley St. on a report of gunfire, police said. Inside the home, police found a scale used to measure drugs along with and several weapons, including a .32-caliber gun, a .38-caliber gun, a .22-caliber gun and a 9mm gun. They also found ammunition for the firearms.
