The state issued several citations last week for violations of state liquor and tobacco laws at area stores and bars.
Joenub Inc., the owner of the now-closed Smokey Joe's nightclub on Market Street in Youngstown, was cited Jan. 16 for selling beer to a person younger than 21. The citation came after the conviction of a bar worker for selling the beer to the minor Oct. 4.The owner of the Blast Furnace in Youngstown's Federal Plaza was cited Jan. 15 for selling beer at a fixed price for an unlimited quantity. The citation was for an Oct. 2 sale.A 20-year-old woman at Crawford's Dresden Avenue Market in East Liverpool was cited Jan. 15 for giving, selling or distributing cigarettes or tobacco products to a child.A 33-year-old woman at the Dairy Mart on South Main Street in Niles was cited Jan. 18 for giving, selling or distributing cigarettes or tobacco products to a child.A 47-year-old woman at the Speedway gas station on Vienna Avenue in Niles was cited Jan. 18 for giving, selling or distributing cigarettes or tobacco products to a child.
