DINNER/DANCES
XEast Palestine High School Band Parents Organization will sponsor a dinner dance Feb. 16 at The Georgetown in Boardman to raise funds for scheduled learning trips for 2002-03. The theme will be "One Elegant Evening," and tickets are $75 per couple. Firms purchasing tables for eight will receive name recognitions on the sponsor board at the entrance along with reserved seating. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the buffet beginning at 7 followed by music and dancing at 8. There also will be a cash bar. XMacCallum Highlanders Pipe Band will sponsor a Robert Burns dinner Saturday at Stambaugh Auditorium, Youngstown. The social hour will start at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner honoring the Scottish poet will be at 6:30. An authentic Scottish dinner featuring pastries and shortbread and other delicacies will be served. There will be a grand march and dancing to Sandy Hain and the Clansmen from Cleveland. Entertainment also will be provided by MacCallum Highlanders Pipe Band and McConnell Scottish Dancers of Boardman and Akron. XSts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Senior UOL Chapter, will present a Malanka, a New Year's Eve in Ukraine dinner dance, Saturday at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and there wiill be an ethnic-food buffet from 6:30 to 8:30, dancing from 8 to midnight, a cash bar, a champagne toast at midnight, and hats and noisemakers. FUND-RAISERS
XNiles Speech Team Boosters will sponsor a trip Wednesday to Trumbull New Theater for a 7 p.m. performance of "To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday." Contact Jill Gardlock at (330) 652-9131 for tickets. Reservations are due by Tuesday.
NIGHTS AT THE RACES
XNotre Dame Home and School Association is sponsoring a night at the races fund-raiser Feb. 9 at G's Golden Gate Restaurant, 2186 Parkman Road N.W., Warren. Doors open at 6 p.m. with a dinner buffet at 6:30 and races beginning at 7. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 for a couple. Tickets are available at the door.
XSt. Joseph's Society of St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sponsor a night at the races Saturday at the church social hall. Post time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and available by calling the rectory at (330) 755-0277. Refreshments are included.
