Two authors to signbooks at Book Nook
The Book Nook in the Elm Road Plaza, Warren, will hold a book signing on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Judith Shirilla, who has written a book called "Out of Order" about the brain tumor and death of her husband.
Tony Trolio will likewise sign his book, "Brier Hill, USA." The book was also written by Mike Varveris and details the Brier Hill neighborhood of Youngstown, home to hundreds of Italian immigrants.
Ex-con's gritty novel
"Steel Toes" by Eddie Little (LA Weekly Books $23.95).
A dose of smack, the rib-smashing crunch of a handy blunt object: Such are the charms of "Steel Toes," the new brutal crime novel from ex-con-turned-writer Eddie Little. Don't read it before dinner, and don't recommend it to the in-laws (unless they have a taste for mayhem). Little has been compared to Hunter S. Thompson and William Burroughs, a bit of a stretch but not hard to justify. He writes in a fleeting, passive, stream-of-consciousness style. Reading this novel, you wonder who's gonna get his face smashed in next.
