Swimmers, diversfall to Cleveland St.
CLEVELAND -- The Youngstown State University women's swimming and diving team dropped its first meet of the season, 130-110, to Cleveland State.
The Penguins were led by junior Lena Arens, who won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.94 seconds and was a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay with Molly McAtee, Melissa Wiese and Erin Carter.
Junior diver Mandie Smail won the 1-meter board with 279.15 points, while senior Brandi Goettsch was second and freshman Kalyn Leveto third. Goettsch won the 3-meter board, while Smail finished second and Leveto third.
Other second place finishers included Danielle Blagg in the 100 breaststroke and Carter in the 100 butterfly
The Penguins' next meet will be Jan. 26 when they host Clarion at the Beeghly Natatorium at 1 p.m.

Canfield loses road hockey game
MENTOR -- Notre Dame Cathedral Latin took a 4-2 lead after two periods and held on to defeat Canfield 6-4 Friday in a Greater Cleveland High School Hockey Association game.
Nick Salvador scored four goals to lead Cathedral Latin. Andy Davis, Bob Brocker, Nick Rulli and Sam Crowe scored goals for the Cardinals.
Cathedral Latin goalie Nick Adorni made 16 saves. Ryan DeJoe saved 28 for Canfield.
Correction
Lowellville freshman Amanda Nero was misidentified in a column on Friday. Her sister Tami is a junior.

Marathon hasfree training
PITTSBURGH -- People planning to run in the 2002 UPMC Health System/City of Pittsburgh Marathon on May 5 may attend a free training seminar series offered by UPMC.
The first seminar will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at UPMC Montefiore in Oakland, Pa. From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, UPMC athletic trainers and physical therapists will provide runners with free musculoskeletal screenings at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, 3200 S. Water St.
Other seminars will be Feb. 9, 10 a.m.-noon, UPMC's Biomedical Science Tower, Darragh Street, Oakland; March 23, 10 a.m.-noon, UPMC Montefiore; May 4, 2-4 p.m., Three Rivers Room of the Omni William Penn Hotel, downtown Pittsburgh. Call (412) 647-7866 for more information.

Parcells rejectsBuccaneers' offer
Bill Parcells rejected the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- again.
The two-time Super Bowl champion coach said Friday night that he will not return to the sideline with the Bucs or any other team.
"I just cannot make the commitment necessary to do the job. I just want to stay retired," Parcells told CNNSI.com from his home in New Jersey.
"I hope that convinces everybody that I'm not coming back. Because I'm not. This is it. I'm staying retired. The demands of the job and what it would take for me to succeed were just too much."
The Bucs did not have any immediate comment on the report. Jimmy Sexton, Parcells' agent, did not return a telephone message from The Associated Press.
It's the second time in 10 years that Parcells has spurned the Bucs, who also pursued him after the 1991 season only to be turned down at the last minute.
"I thought we had a deal," then-Bucs owner Hugh Culverhouse said at the time. "Now I feel as though we've been jilted at the altar."
The Bucs fired Tony Dungy, the most successful coach in the team's 26-year history, Monday night.
Tyson, wife divorce
ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Mike Tyson's second wife has filed for divorce, accusing the former heavyweight boxing champion of adultery.
Monica Tyson seeks an unspecified "reasonable sum," according to divorce papers filed Thursday in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
Mike Tyson countered Thursday by suing for divorce in Las Vegas, claiming incompatibility, spokesman Scott Miranda said. There was a divorce case filed under the name Michael Tyson in Las Vegas, and it was ordered sealed.
"This is a private situation," the boxer said Friday in a statement. "It will not be a distraction. I'm 100 percent focused on knocking out Lennox Lewis."
New Orleans fansreact to new team
NEW ORLEANS -- A day after the Charlotte Hornets' owners announced plans to move the NBA team to New Orleans, fans had requested about 4,800 season tickets.
"That's just off the press conference. There will be an orchestrated marketing campaign by the team that hasn't even begun yet," Bill Curl, spokesman for the management company that runs the 2 1/2-year-old New Orleans Arena, said Friday.
Team officials can nullify their agreement with the state if they are unable to sell about 10,500 season tickets and 54 luxury suites by March 15.
