Store owner to be deported for delivery of illegal drug

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A Lawrence County man will have to leave the United States as part of his probation after pleading guilty to delivery of Oxycodone, the generic brand of OxyContin, a highly addictive painkiller often prescribed to cancer patients.
Attallah George Haddad, also known as Eddie Fawzi Haddad, of Mercer Road, was sentenced this week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to serve 10 years' county probation with the specific condition he be deported.
A deportation hearing before the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service is set for April 9. Haddad, a Canadian national, pleaded guilty in the Nov. 12, 2000, delivery of 10 Oxycodone tablets to this area, said District Attorney Matthew Mangino.
In addition to $840 in court costs and restitution, Haddad is ordered to divest all ownership interest in the Cruise Inn, a convenience store at 1215 E. Washington St., New Castle. He was ordered to leave the United States no later than April 30, Mangino said.
