YOUNGSTOWN -- Several adults face charges after three drug raids at separate city addresses.
Youngstown Police Vice Squad executed a search warrant at 83 E. Boston Ave. about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday.
They arrested Arvella Davis, 23, of Sunshine Avenue, on a felony charge of aggravated trafficking in cocaine, a felony weapons charge and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge after finding him outside a bathroom near 22 bags of suspected crack cocaine and a scale.
Two guns were found in the residence.
Davis pleaded innocent to the misdemeanor Thursday and Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly set $31,000 in cash or surety bonds and appointed an attorney to represent him.
Teen charged: Also arrested at the East Boston address was a 17-year-old East Judson Avenue teen. He was found in a living room where officers confiscated 15 bags of suspected crack cocaine and a marijuana cigarette. He was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and misdemeanor drug abuse marijuana. A Juvenile Justice Center official said information on the teen's arraignment was sealed from the public.
About 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, the squad used a battering ram to enter 927 Catalina Ave. They arrested Derrick Oliver, 27, of that residence, on charges of felony aggravated trafficking in cocaine and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. Officers found Oliver in a dining room where they confiscated 16 bags of suspected crack cocaine, a scale and a bag of marijuana. Oliver carried $445.
He pleaded innocent Thursday to the misdemeanor charges and Judge Kobly set $9,500 in cash or surety bonds and appointed an attorney.
Also arrested at the Catalina address was Everett Barnette, 54, of Victoria Street, on a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge after police found a crack pipe in his pants pocket.
He pleaded innocent Thursday and Judge Kobly released him on his own recognizance after appointing a lawyer.
Raid nets five: About 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, five people were arrested on felony aggravated trafficking in marijuana charges after squad members forced their way into 219 Gaither Ave.
Lashonda Boone, 20, and Shanell Boone, 21, both of McBride Street; Sherman Sanders, 21, of West Delason Avenue; Eric Shields, 29, of West Delason; and Christopher Shorter, 25, of East Pasadena Avenue were arraigned Thursday.
Police saw Shorter run from a living room where they found 30 bags of suspected marijuana packaged for sale.
On a dining room table where three other people sat, police found $509, a scale and 77 bags of suspected marijuana.
A marijuana pipe was found on a dining room bookshelf.
Shields carried $400 and officers found him in a bedroom next to three bags of suspected marijuana and a bottle of prescription cough medicine. Also in the bedroom, they found several bags of suspected marijuana. In another bedroom, they found 31 bags containing suspected marijuana and another bag with suspected marijuana, $235 and a paper belonging to Shorter.
In the kitchen, police confiscated a cigar box containing five bags of suspected marijuana, 47 smaller bags of suspected marijuana and $10.
Judge's order: Judge Kobly ordered a $25,000 bond on Shields, who has previous felony convictions. She ordered a $10,000 bond on Shorter, $5,000 on Sanders and $3,000 on Lashonda Boone.
Shanell Boone also faces a charge of carrying a concealed weapon after police found a loaded .40-caliber handgun in her purse. Judge Kobly ordered bonds of $10,000.
Judge Kobly appointed attorneys to represent the women. The three men said they intended to hire their own lawyers.
