MASON, Ohio -- PocketScript, a start-up company that wanted to revolutionize the way doctors prescribe medications, will be sold at auction.
PocketScript, founded in 1999, manufactures a hand-held communicator that doctors use for transmitting prescriptions based on patients' health plans and other drug use.
The order for a federally supervised auction of the company, which is based in this Cincinnati suburb, was announced in U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Wednesday, two days after the company requested bankruptcy protection.
PocketScript has estimated its debts as being between $1 million and $10 million and its assets at less than $50,000. The company had to lay off almost all of its employees last summer.
