Concert will benefitill Youngstown man
BROOKFIELD -- A benefit concert will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at Yankee Lake Ballroom for Jimmy Neopolitan of Youngstown, who is fighting cancer.
All proceeds will go toward Neopolitan's treatment.
Neopolitan, who is in his late 40s, has been fighting the disease for six years but his health insurance has ran out. Tumors have lodged in his kidney, lung and brain.
The show will open with Edisons Medicine and Side Show and will feature the Frankie Fordeley Family Band. Guests will include Michael Angelo, called the fastest guitarist in the world for playing two guitars at once, Glass Harp's John Sferra and DJ "Smokin' Bill." Guitars and a drum set used by Angelo, Sferra, Frankie Fordeley and Smokin' Bill will be autographed and auctioned. Tickets are $5 per person. The benefit is sponsored by Fordeley's Music, Courtesy Dodge, Baragona Mid-America Events and Y-103.
Club' seeks board members
AUSTINTOWN -- Meetings are being held to organize a "clean and sober club" in Youngstown's suburbs. The club will be designed to provide a drug- and alcohol-free place for gatherings.
Those who wish to serve on the club's board must have spent at least a year sober and participating in a local 12-step program. Meetings will be at 1:30 p.m. Sundays at Lucianno's restaurant on South Raccoon Road.
