CANFIELD Police car is hit; DUI suspect arrested

CANFIELD -- Police have arrested a North Jackson man accused of backing his car into a police car Monday afternoon.
Scott Baker, 39, of Akron-Canfield Road, is charged by police with driving under the influence. It is his third drunken-driving arrest during the past six years, police said. Police stopped behind Baker's car around 4:45 p.m. in the parking lot of McDonald's on East Main Street after receiving reports that he was driving erratically. Baker then turned around and backed his car into the cruiser.
Reports do not indicate the extent of the damage. The police officer was not injured.
Baker had a blood-alcohol level of .101. The legal limit is .10.
Woman struggles
On Monday, police also arrested a Lisbon Street woman accused of struggling while she was being handcuffed. Patti Ranshaw, 43, is charged by police with resisting arrest and two counts of driving under the influence. Police said they pulled over a car driven by Ranshaw that did not have its headlights on around 8 p.m. on Lisbon Street. She had a blood alcohol level of .125.
Police said that Ranshaw pushed away from them as they tried to handcuff her. An officer eventually struck Ranshaw on her left thigh with his knee to force her to the ground and handcuff her.
