Cold Metal reachesdeal in Indianapolis
BOARDMAN -- Cold Metal Products, which is looking to sell its plants through bankruptcy court, has reached a labor contract with workers at its Indianapolis plant. Workers, who are members of United Steelworkers of America, approved the contract Monday.
The Boardman-based steel processor closed the Indianapolis plant along with its Campbell plant in August but later reopened the Indianapolis plant when workers agreed to make contract concessions.
Former workers at the Campbell plant are trying to find investors who would support their effort to reopen the plant.
Damascus Tube plantcloses in Transfer
TRANSFER, Pa. -- The last eight maintenance and production employees at the former Damascus Tube plant worked their last day Monday. The plant, now owned by the Italian company, Marcegaglia USA, has closed. Randy Lamotte, chairman of United Steelworkers of America Local 3713-04, said the union is still trying to negotiate a plant closure agreement for its members.
The 50-year-old plant, which employed more than 200 people at one time, was down to 42 workers when the company announced in early November that it would close the plant at the end of this year and transfer its pipe and tube manufacturing operations to a new plant in Munhall, Pa.
