Season recap: The Big Ten freshman of the year, a first team All-Big Ten pick and a Sporting News freshman all-America. Rushed for 175 yards in the season opener against Texas Tech. Shredded Washington State for 230 yards, the second-highest figure ever by an Ohio State freshman behind Archie Griffin's 239 (North Carolina, 1972) and the sixth-best total overall in school history. Closed the regular season with 119 yards against Michigan, despite playing with a shoulder injury. Set numerous school records, including most 100-yard games by a freshman (7), most points by a freshman (96) and most touchdowns by a freshman (16). Was the first freshman to start at tailback since Dean Sensanbaugher in 1943.
