Ohio man dies in crash on I-80 in Pa.
MERCER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said a Columbus, Ohio, man was fatally injured when the minivan he was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Findley Township.
Police said Henry Schulte, 57, was westbound on I-80 around 3 p.m. Saturday when he apparently lost control and his vehicle went into the median.
The minivan traveled about 730 feet before it came back onto the road sideways and was struck broadside by a tractor-trailer driven by Andy Hurley, 55, of South Beloit, Ill.
Police said the minivan was struck on the driver's side. The minivan then ran off the north berm and struck an embankment while the tractor-trailer came to a stop off the south side of the roadway.
Schulte was flown from the scene to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, where he died around 6 p.m. Saturday.
Hurley wasn't hurt in the crash, but three passengers in Schulte's minivan suffered moderate injuries. Police identified them as Janet Schulte, 57, of Columbus and Jill S. Minor, 30, and Lela Minor, 4, both of Solsberry, Ind. A fourth passenger, Corwin Schmidt, 3, of Solsberry, wasn't injured.
