VIENNA -- The Warren post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash Wednesday that killed an 8-year-old township boy.
The patrol said Ian B. Wheeler was a passenger in the back seat of the car driven by Jeffrey A. Wheeler, 47 of Vienna.
Wheeler was traveling south on state Route 193 about 8 p.m. Wednesday when a northbound vehicle driven by Kristie A. Bournias, 21, of Warren, went off the road, overcorrected, came back across the center line and side-swiped the Wheeler vehicle.
The road was slush-covered, the patrol said.
Wheeler, his wife, Renee D., 41, and daughter, Lauren, 10, were treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
All of the people in the Wheeler vehicle were wearing seat belts.
Bournias, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, wasn't injured. The patrol said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Charges are pending.
