MIDDLETOWN, PA. Husband-father sought in slayings of mom, daughters

A 9-month-old girl was found unharmed in the home.
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) -- A woman and her two daughters were found shot to death Christmas morning, and authorities said they were searching for their husband and father, who was awaiting trial on charges he molested his daughters.
Police were seeking Earnest Wholaver for questioning in the deaths of his wife, Jean Wholaver, and their daughters, Victoria, 20, and Elizabeth, 15, Dauphin County District Attorney Edward M. Marsico Jr. said Wednesday.
Victoria Wholaver's 9-month-old daughter, Madison, was found unharmed in the home.
Marsico stopped short of calling Wholaver a suspect in the killings.
Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick said the women were found Wednesday morning, but they appeared to have been shot Tuesday.
"It looked almost like assassination type," Hetrick said. "It wasn't like somebody went in and just shot up the place. They controlled each individual and shot them."
Relatives in Johnstown called police after they became worried when the three did not arrive on Christmas as planned, Middletown Borough Police Chief Keith Reismiller said.
After no one answered the door at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, police entered the home and found one victim on the first floor and two more on the second floor. All had been shot, police said.
Child-sex charges
Wholaver was charged in August after his youngest daughter accused him of sexual abuse and his oldest daughter soon came forward with similar allegations, authorities said.
Marsico said a trial was to be held soon in Dauphin County Court.
As a condition of his release on $100,000 bond, Wholaver was barred from contacting his family, and his wife had the locks changed, according to neighbors.
Reynolds Overmiller, a neighbor, said he saw police going into and out of the house all day Wednesday.
"There was a half a dozen police around, and they taped the place off," Overmiller said. "They were there all day. ... We were trying to stay out of the way, really."
Middletown is about 15 miles southeast of Harrisburg.
