GIRLS BASKETBALL Howland stays unbeaten



The Tigers beat Ashtabula Edgewood for their seventh straight win, 68-43.
ASHTABULA -- Darcy Quinlan scored 10 of her 26 points in the third quarter as the undefeated Howland girls basketball team turned back Ashtabula Edgewood 68-43 Monday.
Howland (7-0) led 25-18 at the break, but a 25-point third quarter allowed the Tigers to carry a 50-32 lead into the fourth framer.
Quinlan added nine rebounds and eight assists, while Kristina Ferenac scored 19 points. Pam Drelinski scored 23 points for Edgewood.
Columbiana 64, Chaney 33
COLUMBIANA -- Lisa Simon turned in a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Clippers (6-1).
Stevie Goist had 21 points, six assists and five steals, while Carly Washinko had a 15-point game for the Clippers, who were tied 8-8 after eight minutes of action. Quiana Faifon scored 15 points for the Cowboys (2-5).
South Range 46, United 39
NORTH LIMA -- Jodi James collected 12 points and as many rebounds for the Raiders (4-3), who have won four straight. United (2-5) led 37-35 after three quarters but scored just two fourth-quarter points.
Kelly Skrinyer had 11 points and Kelly James 10 more for the Raiders.
Michelle Foster and Sara Hotchkiss evenly split 28 points for United.
Mathews 50, Lordstown 26
VIENNA -- Melissa Morrison paced the Mustangs (3-3) with 18 points and Tara Ford provided support with 16 points.
Lis Allison and Jennifer Bennett each scored six points for Lordstown (2-9).
Mathews scored 29 points after the break and allowed just 10.
Erie McDowell 64,Kennedy Cath. 54
ERIE, Pa. -- Rachel Slomski scored 18 points and pulled in seven rebounds while Melissa Kuher added 17 points and eight assists for McDowell (5-4). Becca Gasiewicz fired in 15 points, Lauren Friedrich scored 12 points and Leah Mastrian rebounded seven times for the Eagles (6-2).
Kennedy Catholic led 43-41 after three quarters but was out-scored 23-11 the rest of the way. Kuher scored nine points in the final eight minutes, going 5-for-7 from the foul line.
