XPOLAND -- Atty. and Mrs. John Weed Powers of 421 S. Main St. were honored Dec. 21 on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary during a family gathering at the Skytop Lodge in the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania, where the couple spent their honeymoon.
Mr. Powers and the former Emily Morgan Park were married Dec. 19, 1942, at Friends Meeting House in Horsham, Pa. He attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., studied law at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and is a practicing attorney in the area.
Mrs. Powers attended Connecticut College in New London, Conn.
The couple's family includes four children and their spouses, David and Beverly Powers of San Francisco; Catherine Powers of Fort Washington, Pa.; John Weed Jr. (Jay) and Robin Powers of Eureka, Calif.; and Douglas and Abby Powers of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.
