WARREN'S OPENING NIGHT
Countdown to Midnight: The final moments of the year will be marked off with a glittering ball drop from Bank One building on Courthouse Square immediately followed by a fireworks display.
Puppetry: Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. This professional show features handcrafted puppets performing funny, high-spirited entertainment for children and adults. Show times are 5-5:30, 6-6:30, 7-7:30 p.m.
Music: Jane Berkner on flute and harpist Tom Bell at Bank One. Show times are 8:15-9, 9:30-10:15, 10:45-11:30 p.m.
Music: Billy Z Band, SCOPE Senior Center. Using an electronic keyboard, the duo plays a wide variety of music, including some from the 1930s and 1940s. Show times are 9-9:30, 10-10:30 p.m.
Exhibit: Black Light Art & amp; Creative Writing, 157 W. Market St. A display of works by local artist Nik Zirkola and accompanying short stories and poems by students from Turner Middle School. 7-11:30 p.m.
Mime: Pam Chermansky, YWCA. A Trumbull County native, Chermansky has studied with Marcel Marceau and has won numerous awards for her acting and writing talents. She lives in Chicago. Show times: 5-5:45, 6:15-7, 7:30-8:15
Classic cars: McFarland's Funeral Home garage. Featuring cars owned by local automobile enthusiasts. Sponsored by the National Packard Museum. 6-10 p.m.
Exhibit: Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo's Tropical Rain Forest, First Presbyterian Church. Life in tropical rain forests is explained by Richard Ellers, a zoo employee and Warren resident. Show times: 5:45-6:30, 6:45-7:30, 8-8:45 p.m.
Dance: Cs & agrave;rd & agrave;s by the Great Lakes Ballet. This dance company was designed to preserve the dances, songs and music of the Hungarian people. Cs & agrave;rd & agrave;s presents staged choreographies of authentic village-style dancing as well as contemporary works stemming from Hungarian traditions. 9:30-10:15, 10:45-11:30 p.m.
Tours: John Stark Edwards Museum, 303 Monroe St. Self-guided tours offered of the oldest structure in Trumbull County, owned by the Trumbull County Historical Society. 5-8 p.m.
Juggler: John Flower, YWCA. The Mad Mountain Juggler will spin his own kind of spontaneous madness, entertaining all ages with visual surprises. Show times: 7:15-8, 8:30-9:15, 9:45-10:30 p.m.
Music: Steve Free, folk guitarist, First Place Bank. This singer, songwriter and recording artist uses his Appalachian and American Indian roots to deliver music to audiences of all ages. He combines thought-provoking lyrics with audience participation. Show times are 6:30-7:15, 7:45-8:30, 9-9:45 p.m.
Music: Galgozy & amp; Ingersoll, Hall's Funeral Home chapel. These two Northeast Ohio artists aim to create a musical experience that traverses folk styles, blues, jazz and originals. Show times are 7-7:45, 8:15-9, 9:30-10:15 p.m.
Music: Ed Gorse, classical guitarist, McFarland Funeral Home parlor. Gorse has performed locally at the Book Nook and Crystal's Restaurant. Show times are 6:30-7:15, 7:45-8:30, 9-9:45 p.m.
Dance: Great Lakes Festival Ballet, Great Lakes Festival Ballet Studio. Local ballet company will perform excerpts from "The Nutcracker." Show times are 6:45-7:15 and 7:45-8:15 p.m.
Storyteller: Roger Jerome, Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. This Englishman has settled in Ohio after acting with the Royal Shakespeare Company and London's West End. His solo shows, derived from British literary material, have been performed throughout the United States. His new show, "Merlin and Arthur," uses poetry, smoke, magic and a sword to bring forth the legend. Show times are 5:45-6:30, 7-7:45 and 8:15-9 p.m.
