Indians, Magruder agree to contract

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians on Saturday signed outfielder Chris Magruder to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Magruder, acquired in an April trade with the Texas Rangers, split last season between Triple-A Buffalo and Cleveland, playing in 87 games with the Indians.
The 25-year-old batted .217 with six homers and 29 RBIs. He batted only .175 in 25 games after being recalled from Buffalo on Sept. 1.
In 54 games with the Bisons, Magruder hit .267 with five homers and 16 RBIs.
Magruder, who played all three outfield positions in Cleveland, is a cousin of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jon Kitna.
