HORIZON LEAGUE Butler's quick start dooms Saint Louis; Milwaukee cruises

INDIANAPOLIS -- Darnell Archey scored 16 points, including 4-of-7 3-pointers, to help Butler gain its eighth consecutive victory as the Bulldogs beat Saint Louis 68-46 on Saturday.
Archey contributed eight points in a 90-second span. His teammates also nailed six 3-pointers in a 30-8 run to start the game.
Marque Perry, who led the Billikens (4-4) with 23 points and seven rebounds, scored four consecutive points to close the deficit to 30-12 at halftime.
Saint Louis went on a 10-0 run one-quarter of the way through the second half to close the deficit to 51-34. Butler did it from the free throw line the rest of the way, hitting 7-of-9 free throws. The Bulldogs eventually pumped the lead up to 27 with five minutes remaining and the score at 63-38.
The Bulldogs (8-0) made eight more free throws, had 10 more assists and shot 61 percent from the floor in the second half. Joel Cornette scored 11 points, and Mike Monserez added 13 for Butler.
Wis.-Milwaukee 100, Loyola 80
MILWAUKEE -- Dylan Page scored all but five of his career-high 32 points in the second half, as Wisconsin-Milwaukee beat Loyola for its eighth straight victory in the Horizon League opener for both teams.
Milwaukee (9-2), the preseason favorite to win the league title, has its longest winning streak since the 1992-93 season, when the Panthers won 10 in a row.
The Ramblers (4-5) lost their third straight game. They were led by David Bailey with 25 points.
Nate Mielke added 22 points for the Panthers, while Jason Frederick had 18 and Ronnie Jones 16. Starter Clay Tucker, who missed the last two games with back spasms, returned and had nine points and six rebounds.
After a basket by Loyola's Paul McMillan tied the game at 38 early in the second half, the Panthers went on an 8-0 run, going ahead 46-38 on a basket by Page with 18:36 left to play.
Page's scoring kept the Panthers in front the rest of the way.
Vasilis Tsimpliaridis nailed a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to lift Loyola to a 36-36 tie.
Tucker came off the bench and scored seven points in an 18-0 Panther run.

CLEVELAND -- Modibo Niakate scored 23 points for Cleveland State (4-5).
Chaz Carr led Boston University (5-6) with 14 points.
