Not planning to host a private party this New Year's Eve? There are plenty of other options for ringing in 2003. Aside from the nonalcoholic First Nights, here are some options:
Alberini's Restaurant will host the Bill Cessna Trio (playing blues and jazz) in its lounge. There is no cover charge, and a wide variety of sparkling wines is available. The restaurant is also featuring a new menu with regional specialties. Call (330) 652-5895.
Avalon Gardens in Youngstown will host its annual New Year's Eve Party, with wine, appetizers, dinner, and a Champagne toast at midnight. After midnight, revelers will be treated to smoked sausage and sauerkraut. Tommy Chris and Cosmo's Cats will be playing live, and a small dance floor will accommodate those who wish to dance. Mr. Anthony's will throw its annual New Year's Eve bash from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The party will include a formal surf and turf buffet, an open bar, entertainment by the band Unique (with a DJ during band breaks), dancing, and the requisite midnight countdown. Opus 21 will offer a special prix fixe menu (about $60-$70 per person) on New Year's Eve, with an early seating from 5 to 7 and a late seating from 8:30-10:30.
