Hair-treatment lawsuit
YOUNGSTOWN -- A city woman who went to a local salon for a hair-straightening treatment in December 2001 says she ended up losing all her hair. Now, Sheri Pilolli, of Broadway Street, is suing the salon.
She and her husband, Robert, are asking for $50,000 from Casal's De Spa & amp; Salon on Boardman-Canfield Road, Canfield. The suit, filed Friday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, is assigned to Judge Jack Durkin.
Within 15 minutes of having solution applied to take the curl out of her hair, large clumps of Mrs. Pilolli's hair started falling out, the suit says. Within hours of the treatment, all her hair had fallen out.
The suit says Mrs. Pilolli was "required to wear a wig, and she was very embarrassed by her baldness."
A manager at the salon said she was aware of neither the occurrence nor the lawsuit.
Package-shipping case
NILES -- Police are storing several items sent to a Royal Mall Drive woman in what appears to be a scam.
The woman told police she spoke with a man who said he was in South Africa. He was going to have packages shipped to her that she could forward to him because shipping was cheaper to the United States than South Africa.
The man, who identified himself as a prince, said he would also send some packages to the woman that she could keep as gifts, the report said.
The first package arrived Monday, the woman told police, at which time she contacted the QVC home shopping network. She found out the items were bought with two international and five U.S. credit cards.
The report said representatives agreed to stop shipment on the remaining items, which included a large-screen TV and several other electronic items.
Niles police are storing the items for pickup by the United Parcel Service.
