YOUNGSTOWN HMHP appoints CEO and president

Shroder helped combine the management staffs of all HMHP entities and create a regional approach to health care in the Mahoning Valley.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Robert W. Shroder was named chief executive officer and president of Humility of Mary Health Partners, effective immediately.
Shroder, former executive vice president of HMHP and chief operating officer of St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, was also named senior vice president of Catholic Healthcare Partners.
He has been interim CEO and president since October, when former CEO and president Michael T. Rowan left to become chief operating officer for St. John Health System, a 10-hospital system with 20,000 employees in Detroit.
The HMHP Board of Trustees and senior leadership of CHP announced Shroder's promotion this morning.
"Bob has a proven track record of excellence, is completely knowledgeable about HMHP, models personal integrity and our core values, developed strong staff and physician relationships, and is committed to the community. This combination, along with his long record of successes at HMHP, made him the natural choice to lead the organization," said Jane Durney Crowley, CHP executive vice president.
Experience
Shroder joined HMHP in 1997 as chief operating officer at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. In April 1998, he became the executive vice president of HMHP. Before joining HMHP, he was executive vice president at Barberton Citizens Hospital and administrator at Detroit's Harper Hospital.
Crowley said Shroder worked to combine the management staffs of all HMHP entities and create a regional approach to health care in the Mahoning Valley for HMHP. She said he was instrumental in the growth of HMHP and its expansion of services throughout the Valley. HMHP has about 5,000 employees.
Shroder and his wife, Katy, and three children live in Howland.
He is a graduate of Miami University and holds a master's degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University in Ohio. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Kent State University Trumbull Advisory Council and on the Warren Philharmonic board.
