Loose tire investigated
CAMPBELL -- City police are investigating after a tire fell off a car owned by the president of the Campbell Education Association as she left Interstate 80 on Friday.
A police report says lug nuts on the tire rim appeared to have been loosened, possibly while it was parked in the lot at Penhale Elementary School. The owner told police her car was in the lot from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. She also told them that lug nuts had been loosened on her car a year ago.
Since then, the teacher said she has changed cars but the affected tire was in the same place on both vehicles. The woman said she doesn't know if the acts of vandalism are related to her position in the teachers union.
